Low cal diets lower your metabolic rate. That’s why it becomes harder and harder to lose weight! 😫

Without getting all science nerd on you, the easiest way to think about this for yourself is that it takes calories to burn calories. This is called the Thermal Effect of Food (TEF), which can account for about 10% of your metabolic rate.

When you restrict calories or don’t eat the amount of calories your body needs on a daily basis you are actually DROPPING your metabolic rate! #notthegoal 

If you want to REV UP your metabolism you need to EAT! #thankgoodness 

So, what does this look like? 

  1. Having a breakfast that’s balanced with the right amount of fat, protein and carbs every morning. Sorry, coffee doesn’t count as breakfast! 🙂
  2. Intentionally making time in your day to eat, instead of skipping meals to run to the next activity.
  3. Eating enough calories, on a daily basis, to support your body’s needs
